The Uruguayan Navy confirms that it has found the wreckage of an Air Class Fairchild Metro III cargo aircraft that disappeared from radar shortly after take off on 6 June.
The wreckage was found on the ground of the River Plate, near Flores island, about 10km off the Montevideo coastline, according to a Navy source.
No further details were provided and the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The aircraft's two pilots are presumed dead.
The aircraft was operating a flight from Montevideo to Buenos Aires' Ezeiza airport.
Air Class is a Uruguayan charter and cargo carrier that flies mostly under contract for DHL. Its fleet includes three Fairchild Metros and one Boeing 727-200 freighter, according to Flightglobal's Ascend database.
