US Airways and its Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)-represented flight attendants have reached a tentative labour agreement.

The Tempe, Arizona-based carrier's 6,800 flight attendants are likely to begin voting on the agreement during the next few weeks and conclude in September, says the union.

"We are very pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with AFA and thank the union leadership and negotiating committee for their dedication in support of our flight attendants," says Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of US Airways, in a statement.

The US National Mediation Board oversaw the latest round of negotiations, which concluded on 7 August.
