Phoenix-based US Airways has named former Sabre senior director Madeleine Gray as VP of business technology delivery.
US Airways in a statement explains that Gray fills an open position within its recently restructured IT group. Her responsibilities include leading the software development team that is responsible for customer-face applications including airport and online check-in tools and service recovery systems.
"By expanding our products like Choice Seats and installing international kiosks, we not only increase efficiency, but generate revenue, all while decreasing costs," says carrier CIO Brad Jensen.
Recently US Airways president Scott Kirby said the next area of opportunity for the carrier in ancillary revenues is allowing customers at any point in the booking process to pay for seat selection. "It is remarkably vey challenging technology to get that done but we are working on that," he says.
