US Airways passenger unit revenues up 5% in August

US Airways' passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately 5% in August compared to a year earlier.

Consolidated passenger traffic and capacity rose by 5.6% and 5.1%, respectively. The load factor was up 0.5 percentage points to 87.4%.

Mainline domestic traffic grew 5.7%, Atlantic traffic increased 7% and Latin traffic rose 9.5%, resulting in an overall 6.3% increase in mainline traffic during the month.

Domestic mainline capacity grew 5.8%, Atlantic capacity rose by 3.8% and Latin capacity increased by 9.5%, resulting in an overall 5.6% growth in mainline capacity during the month.

The mainline passenger load factor was up by 0.6 percentage points to 87.9% for the month.
