US Airways has reached a tentative agreement with its 6,500 passenger service and reservation agents.
The 18-month agreement must undergo a ratification vote by the Airline Customer Service Employee Association-represented employees. The union is an alliance of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
"We are very pleased that we have reached a tentative agreement with our passenger service and reservation employees, the airline's largest group of customer contact employees," says Al Hemenway, vice-president of labour relations at Tempe, Arizona-based US Airways, in a statement.
The contract would cover the employees through US Airways proposed merger and integration with American Airlines if it is ratified.
