US Airways should soon place the first reconfigured Airbus A330-300 featuring its Envoy business class seat into service.

The carrier is retrofitting its nine A330-300s with the same business class suites featured in its seven A330-200s.

In its regular employee update US Airways stated the first reconfigured aircraft will enter service within the next week.

US Airways introduced the Envoy Suites in September 2009.

The carrier is modifying its A330-300 fleet during scheduled maintenance checks in the off-peak season, said US Airways, with completion scheduled for the start of the peak travel summer season to Europe.

The retrofit also includes an upgraded in-flight entertainment system on the business class seats with Panasonic Avionics eX2 platform.

Other elements on the retrofit programme include a new coach seat, new IFE in coach and updated galley compartments to house video controls.
