Virgin Blue long-haul subsidiary V Australia has returned to service its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft that was grounded following a rejected take-off at Los Angeles International Airport last week.

The aircraft, VH-VOZ, had a borescope inspection of its number one General Electric GE90 engine that resulted in engineers replacing an undisclosed component, a spokeswoman says.

Last week the carrier chartered a 747-400 from Air New Zealand to maintain its schedule. The chartered aircraft only needed to perform one flight for V Australia as the airline was able to source seats on other carriers, the spokeswoman says.
