Vnesheconombank subsidiary VEB-Leasing is in the market with a request for proposals for US Export-Import Bank-backed financing for six Boeing 777 aircraft on lease to Aeroflot.
According to a banker, the leasing company is looking for export credit loan funding instead of bond financing, which has become increasingly popular during the past year.
Last year, VEB-Leasing and Aeroflot entered into finance leases on four Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
VEB-Leasing agreed to finance the purchase, which delivered in January, February, March and April, under long-term finance lease contracts.
According to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online database, the carrier holds letters on intent on six Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
Neither VEB-Leasing nor Aeroflot was available for comment at the time of press.
