Russian operator VIM-Avia has received the first Airbus A319 in a deviation from its single-type narrowbody fleet.

Moscow-based airline is to take delivery of the other A319 leased from AWAS shortly.

Since its establishment in 2002, VIM-Avia has operated solely Boeing 757-200s, with seven of the type in service currently.

Switching from charter to regular flights, which now account for 80% of passenger traffic, has necessitated replacing 757s with new Western and Russian aircraft, says the airline.
