Virgin America and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have applied to the US Department of Transport to begin codesharing from around 11 December.
The US low-cost carrier requested to display SIA's code on its flights between Los Angeles and Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. It also plans to display SIA's code on its flights between San Francisco and Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Washington DC.
Virgin America requested for expedited approval of the codeshare flights.
SIA already codeshares with other airlines under the Virgin brand, including Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.
