Virgin America has applied with the US Department of Transportation for authority to expand its code share deal with Singapore Airlines.

The Burlingame, California-based carrier applied on 5 April for the right to display Singapore Airlines' "SQ" code on flights operated by Virgin America on five routes: Los Angeles-Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles-San Jose (California), San Francisco-Dallas/Fort Worth, San Francisco-Chicago and San Francisco-Portland (Oregon).

Virgin America began its code share agreement with Singapore Airlines in December 2012.
