Virgin Atlantic Cargo's revenue for fiscal 2011/12 increased 7% year-on-year to £240 million ($374 million).

The airline attributes the growth to an increase in yield of 12% for the 12 months to 30 June, while overall tonnage fell 5% year-on-year.

Performance was strong both in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region as well as the Americas region, which reported increases in revenue of 13% and 15% respectively.

However, revenues from the Asia-Pacific region declined by 7% due to the challenging market conditions and lack of a traditional peak season in some Southeast Asian markets, says the airline.
