Virgin Australia has expanded its codeshare agreement with Air New Zealand to cover an additional 17 routes within New Zealand.
Virgin says that it already codeshares on services to all domestic destinations operated by Air New Zealand, however, the expanded agreement will allow passengers more flexibility to change between the two carriers.
This comes after the two carriers received reauthorisation, from authorities in Australia and New Zealand, to extend their trans-Tasman alliance until October 2018.
Virgin and Air New Zealand were first granted authorisation to enter an alliance on trans-Tasman routes in December 2010. The New Zealand carrier also holds a 23% stake in Virgin.
