Virgin Australia plans to add Gladstone and Port Macquarie services to its regional network and increase flights to Canberra under its regional alliance with Skywest.
The Virgin Australia-Skywest alliance will serve flights, which are subject to regulatory approval, using ATR 72-500 aircraft, said Virgin Australia.
In October, the airline will launch twice-daily services between Brisbane and Gladstone and daily flights between Brisbane and Port Macquarie.
In addition, it will serve twice-daily flights between Sydney and Port Macquarie as well as offer up to six daily services on the Sydney-Canberra route, added the carrier.
As part of the alliance, Skywest will operate and maintain the aircraft on behalf of Virgin Australia using Virgin Australia's branding and quality inflight offerings, said Virgin Australia.
The new aircraft fleet will be leased from Avation under an initial term of 10 years, it added.
