Virgin Atlantic Airways has selected China's Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company (TAECO) as heavy maintenance provider for its Boeing 747s until the type's retirement from the UK carrier's fleet.
The contract covers D-checks and will run from 2014 until 2017.
Phil Maher, Virgin's engineering director, says TAECO's selection was based on positive experiences from previous dealings with the MRO provider, including both D-checks and major cabin refurbishment projects.
TAECO has been undertaking heavy maintenance work for Virgin since 2009.
The airline operates 13 747-400s in addition to a number of Airbus A330s and A340s.
