Low-cost carrier VivaColombia obtained Thursday night finally the commercial operation permits from Colombia's civil aeronautics authority, Aerocivil, just hours ahead its announced launch today.
Until now, VivaColombia had announced its launch with an inaugural flight to "a surprise destination", allowing customers to buy blank tickets at a fixed price, good to be exchanged later for travel to any domestic destination.
But now Aerocivil's UAEAC administrative unit has approved all routes, which have been put immediately up for sale on VivaColombia's website.
VivaColombia will start flying today with its initial fleet of 3 Airbus A320 aircraft between Medellin and Bogota as well as Cartagena. Over the next few weeks the airline will also launch flights to Cali, Pereira, Barranquilla, Apartado, Bucaramanga, Monteria and the island of San Andres.
