Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris selected the International Aero Engines Select One upgrade for V2500s powering 14 Airbus aircraft on order.
The Toluca-based carrier exercised options for those aircraft in July 2007.
Launched in October 2008 IAE says the SelectOne upgrade allows for a one percent fuel burn advantage and a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. Other improvements include an expansion of on-wing time by 20% and compliance with CAEP/6 NOx standards.
Volaris operates 21 V2500-powered aircraft. The carrier plans to start the initial phase of its recently-announced codeshare with Southwest Airlines in the later half of 2009.
