Russian outsize cargo specialist Volga-Dnepr has taken delivery of a fifth modernised Ilyushin Il-76TD-90VD freighter - the last of three units to be delivered under a 2007 agreement.
During the handover ceremony at its Ulyanovsk base, Volga-Dnepr said United Aircraft's transport division had successfully completed the order.
The carrier has previously sponsored and guaranteed investment for modification work at Tashkent-based airframer TAPO as well as the manufacturing of Aviadviagatel PS-90A76 engines by Perm Motors.
"Our market research shows the potential for using between 15-20 modernised Il-76 freighters by 2015," says a spokesman. "Under our long-term strategy, we plan to meet growing demand by acquiring more of them."
