Spanish carrier Vueling has been nominated to operate new Russian services to the cities of Belgorod and Voronezh.
Russian federal air transport regulator Rosaviatsia has disclosed a formal communication from the Spanish government in January giving Vueling the rights to fly services from Barcelona.
The statement identifies Belgorod - north of the Ukrainian city of Kharkov - and Voronezh, the location of Russian airframer VASO, as the destinations.
Vueling's route network already includes Moscow and St Petersburg, as well as the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
International Airlines Group, the parent of Oneworld alliance members British Airways and Iberia, is in the process of taking over Vueling.
