Washington airports chief to head Abu Dhabi operator

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority president James Bennett is to take over as the head of Abu Dhabi Airports Company.

He will become chief executive on 1 June, taking over from acting chief John Stent, says the airports operator.

Bennett has headed the MWAA, which oversees the US capital's Washington Dulles and Washington National airports, for the past seven years.

Abu Dhabi International Airport is undergoing expansion with a new control tower due to become operational this year and a midfield terminal complex which will open in 2015. The capacity of the airport will increase to 20 million passengers.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company is also responsible for Al Ain International Airport.
