Central European budget carrier Wizz Air is to expand its Gdansk base by placing a fifth Airbus A320 at the Polish airport.

The aircraft will support the new service from Gdansk to Malta that starts on 20 June with twice weekly services as well as frequency increases on existing routes to London Luton, Stockholm Skavsta, Oslo Torp, Bergen, Alesund and Cologne from 19 June.

It means Wizz Air will grow its Polish fleet to 16 A320 units in the summer peak of 2014: five aircraft based aircraft in Gdansk and Katowice, four in Warsaw and one aircraft in Poznan and Wroclaw.
