Xian Aircraft and Safran subsidiary Aircelle have opened their new nacelle components production facility in China.

The factory in Xian will manufacture the nacelle components supplied by Nexcelle, the joint venture between Aircelle and GE Aviation's Middle River Aircraft Systems, for the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China's C919 narrowbody that is currently in development.

This is the first aircraft nacelle production facility in China, said Xian Aircraft's parent Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) in a statement.

The joint venture will produce thrust reversers and doors sub-assemblies, and other possible components - including thrust reversers, air inlets and fan cowls - for other aircraft as well.

It will deliver Airbus A320 thrust reversers and door sub-assemblies by the end of 2011, added AVIC.
