Xian Aircraft has delivered Nepal Airlines its first MA60 turboprop.
The turboprop is the first of a two MA60s given by the Chinese to Nepal. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal awarded type certification to the Chinese-made aircraft last November.
Xian Aircraft says the aircraft is well suited for Nepal because of its complex terrain, and also because it has 45 airports with connections to major domestic cities.
This delivery to Nepal Airlines also marks the airframer's first aircraft delivery this year.
In February, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued three airworthiness directives concerning the MA60, grounding 15 examples of the type. The regulatory actions came after the manufacturer called for a grounding of its entire fleet in China, following the malfunction of an Okay Airways MA60 landing gear indicator.
The CAAC has since called for a revision of the MA60 flight manual to include the replacement of the front landing gear's lock-up and lock-down parts on well used MA60s, as well as an inspection of all MA60s' landing gear indicators.
