Xian Aircraft's MA600 freighter has completed the ground and flight tests necessary for type certification.
The Chinese airframer says the turboprop has completed eight types of ground tests in total, in addition to development, reliability and certification flight tests. These total 21 take-offs and landings, accumulating 37 flight hours.
The successful completion of these tests moves the programme one step closer to type certification, adds Xian Aircraft.
The Chinese authorities granted the freighter type inspection certification in March, allowing the aircraft to start undergoing flight tests.
The MA600 freighter completed its first flight at Xian's Yanliang airport last October, and made its public debut at Airshow China in Zhuhai in November 2012.
The MA600 is an updated variant of the MA60. Both variants have been sold to airlines such as Indonesia's Merpati and the Philippines' Zest Air in developing countries. Several militaries of third world countries have also bought the aircraft.
