China's Xian Aero Engines and Italian engine maintenance specialist Avio have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a manufacturing plant for combustors in north-west China.

Under the agreement, which was signed at the Airshow China in Zhuhai, the two companies will set up an equity joint venture aimed at building a facility in Xian to develop and manufacture civil aircraft combustors for use mainly in the Chinese market.

The facility will produce combustors for the engines on the Comac C919.
