History
Originally owned by members of the Qatari royal family, operating on a mainly regional schedule. Qatar Airways was relaunched in April 1997 by a new management team headed by the CEO Akbar Al Baker.
In November 2006, Qatar Airways was the first airline to open a commercial passenger terminal dedicated exclusively to its First and Business Class passengers at Doha International Airport
On 30 May 2007 Al Baker signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to become the launch customer for the Airbus A350XWB. Announced plans, In December 2010, to launch its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in early 2012.
