THE first detachment of American airmen last week left Rome for the Italian front, where they went at once into action. These airmen — all volunteers — received their instruction in flying in Italian aviation schools. They were accompanied by Mr. La Guardia, of the United States Con- gress, and on their departure were greeted by Signor Chiesa, the Commissioner for Aviation. 712
