Incidentally, itmay be mentioned that Mr. Hinkler had flown downfrom Manchester with but one stop at Coventry to fillup his tanks. After Hinkler's demon-stration of the machine those visitors who desiredto try out the machine for themselves were invitedto do so, and a large number were taken for" flips," all expressing them- selves delighted with thebehaviour of the machine. The photograph on thispage, as well as the two views on p. 443, showthe " Gosport " in various attitudes, and indicate thatthe machine is extremely manoeuvrable, and that itcan be safely " stunted/' quite close to the ground —in the hands of Mr. Hinkler at any rate. The engine with whichthe "Gosport" is fitted as standard is the Gnome100 h.p m n srupape. At the end of the demon-stration the visitors were motored back to town, while Mr. Hinkler flew the " Gosport " back toManchester. f" FLIGHT " Photographs FOREIGN AIR ATTACHES AT CROYDON: This group, standing in front of the Avro "Gosport,''includes, from left to right : Mr. John Lord (Avros), Sqdn.-Ldr.
