No liability for accidentsarising to aircraft from the use of the ranges in these areas will be admitted. Royal Air Force Stores Officers THE Air Ministry announces that 15 to 20 vacancies for permanentcommissions in the Stores Branch of the Roya' Air Force will be offered for competition among young men between 23 and 25 years of age who have notless than five years' business experience in a firm of standine. This is the second competition under the scheme initiated lust year to obtain men witha l'"^ness training to control and administer the supply of the highly valuable anrt complex equipment of the Royal Air Force. The similarfigure for flying officers on promotion will be '.'40! and for group captains (the highest rank for which provision is made) +"1.140. The expenses in RoyalAir Force messes are strictly regulated so that officers even of the most junior rank can live on their pay. Rates of pay are subject to variation in accord-ance with the cost of living. The appointments are pensionable. Enquiries for copies of the regulations and for application forms should be made in writing to the Secretary, Air Ministry, London, W.C.2. Completed application forms should reach the Air Ministry not later than May 23. The Health of the Royal Air Force THE official Blue Book on the Health of the Royal Air Force, for theyear 1925, has just been issued. While the report shows that there was still a high percentage of sickness, there was a decrease in the period underreview as compared with previous years. The average strength of the Air Force as a whole (in 1925) was 33,028, and the total number of casesof sickness recorded was 29,763, equivalent to a case incidence of 901 • 1 per 1,000 of strength. The incidence of sickness and the number of daysof sickness per head are the lowest that have been recorded since 1920, when these Reports were instituted. Injuries due to flying are recorded as 155with 55 deaths : injuries sustained in athletics as 851, with 5 deaths; and motor transport was responsible for 400, with 18 deaths. A total of 36deaths from disease is recorded. 319
