Curtiss "Super Conqueror" en- gine, and many people felt that the Gee Bee was an unlikely starter, simply because it never appeared in the fresh air. The machine is a cross between the "International Courier" and the "International Supersportster " R5, so that, at a guess, its cruising speed can be taken as being quite 230 m.p.h.
