XXVII ®% AIRCRAFT ENGINEER AND AIRSHIPS OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE ROYAL AERO CLUB SIXPENCE EVERY THURSDAY JtCinCL the new ta PAIM e Palmer Monodisk is perfectly streamlined. ; smooth, rounded surface has no projections ^ede the airflow, reduce speed and waste power. - Palmer Monodisk combines lightness and ength to an extent hitherto mi approached, s-piece construction cbviates the drilling of jr bolt holes (which weaken the metal of ... a one-piece streamlined wheel for high-pressure tyres ordinary wheels), and also makes it possible to increase thickness at vital points. Integral webs provide load-carrying members for all strains— radial, axial and torsional. N.B.—By comparison with an ordinary wheel of the same size, a Monodisk wheel of roller-bearing type was shown by the severe British Air Ministry static test to provide a load increase of 54 per cent, for 28 per cent, less weight. • The Palmer Monodisk requires no adjustment or maintenance—thanks to the complete absence of rivets, bolts and nuts.
