FLIGHT. 15 LIGHT BEARINGS FOR HEAVY LOADS The proved ideal of all heavy-duty roller bearings, as we have already bearings subject to radial and thrust loads, the Timken tapered roller bearing is available in a light form for aircraft applications; one of these bearings is shown in section above. This is for use on landing wheels, where the heavy side-thrusts are well met by the tapered rollers. Other aircraft applications are of equal interest. Timken tapered shown, are in use in valve rocker mountings, carrying the heavy radial loads in addition to the thrust from oblique push rods and preventing development of undue tappet clearance. In production, too, the Timken bearing plays its part, from the heaviest sheet-mill down to the smallest machine giving better finish without interruption of output.
