JUNE 18, 1936. ©©win * HAWKER GLOSTER HANDLEY-PAGE HESTON DE HAVILLAND GENERAL WESTLAND BOULTON & PAUL and AVRO fit BON 11 Hydraulic Control Systems to their latest types Aircraft designers and manufacturers are invited to write for the new illustrated Catalogue giving full technical information regarding all Dowty Aircraft Components CONTROL FOR RETRACTABLE UNDERCARRIAGES The Dowty single lever hydraulic control system has been devised to simplify the installation of operating equipment for retractable undercarriages, retractable tail wheels, flaps, etc., in the cockpits of modern aircraft. Only one unit, the control box shown on the left above and comprising one lever working in a gate, is mounted in the cockpit and appropriate movements of the lever actuate all hydraulic controls. The illustrations show—on the left—the single lever control box with the Control Handle D in neutral position. When the lever is moved to left or right into either slot C or E, the flap or under carriage controls respectively can be set to ' up' or' down ' positions. Fore and aft movement of the lever actuates the push and pull rods A which are coupled through remote controls to the levers B on the hydraulic control box shown on the right. This control box not only serves to reverse ths direction of flow but also, by means of non - return valves, isolates the complete systems when the levers B are in neutral position.
