DIRECTORATE OF TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT. S EVERAL ASSISTANTS, GRADE III, re quired for structural strength and aero dynamic calculations for aeroplanes in connection with approval investigations for Airworthiness; and for strength tests on materials in aircraft structures. Candidates should have technical training to the standard of the B.Se. degree in Engineering, Drawing Office and Workshops experience or alternatively Research experience is desirable. Candidates must be physically fit for flying and willing to fly as observers. Commencing salary up to £214 a year, according to qualifications and experience, on the scale £130—12—£214—12—£310 (women £130—10— £200—10-T£260). Entrants are eligible in due course for promotion to Assistant II (£315 to £385 a year) ; Assistant I (£400 to £515 per annum) and grades above. The appointments will be non-pensionable, but entrants will be eligible for consideration for appointments to pensionable posts in the event of vacancies arising on the permanent establishment.', Apply (quoting Ref. The closing date for the receipt of applications is 2nd July, 1936. AIR MINISTRY—AERONAUTICAL INSPECTION DIRECTORATE. VACANCIES exist for ENGINEERS. Candi dates are required to have served apprentice ship or pupilage with engineering firm, and to have had such technical education as will enable them to read working drawings, use micrometer and vernier, and to understand the principles of material testing. Age limits 21 to 45 years, except that candidates over 45 years of age will be considered if they have had engineering in spection experience. Successful candidates will in most instances be required to undergo a period of training not exceeding 6 months in aeronautical engineering inspection. It is anticipated that the appointments will be for a period of at least two years. Salary during training at the rate of £3 10s-weekly, and will be increased on satisfactory completion of training to £246 a year, rising by annual increments of £12 if service is satisfactory to £337 a year. Subsistence allowance will be payable during period of training to married men wlio normally reside outside the area or the training centre.
