HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS FOR RETRACTABLE UNDERCARRIAGE ACTUATION The Dowty System of Hydraulic Control consists ^™ of an engine or electrically operated power pump with a stand-by hand pump in parallel. A single control lever throws the power or hand pump into circuit and controls the oil flow to the undercarriage and flap jacks. Aircraft metal piping is used throughout these systems with standard A. G.S. fittings. All these parts are readily available in every aircraft factory, an undoubted advantage to the Air Force and Civil Operators as no special spares have to be carried. No special fluid is required. All Dowty systems operate on mineral oil. Dowty undercarriage jacks incorporate automatic locks. Hydraulic control box. Hand pump for combined under= carriage and flap operation.
