ADVERTISEMENTS. AUGUST 6, 1936. THE NEW PEGASUS XX ENGINE. 925 B.H.P. at 10,000 feet. The Pegasus XX is the latest of the new series of "Bristol" engines. Fully supercharged, and intended to give maximum performance at altitude combined with good take-off characteristics, it is especially suitable for fitting into high performance civil and military aircraft. The engine incorporates the following progressive "Bristol" features:— A new design of cylinder head and hardened barrel with a substantial increase in cooling area. Improved -piston and rings. Sodium cooled and stellited exhaust valves arid stellitcd valve seats. Improved rocker lubrication. Rubber buffer engine mounting. Improved supercharger and improved carburettor. The Pegasus XX engine has been fully type-tested, and has been chosen for use in several new and advanced types of aircraft for the Roval Air Force. Take-off Power:—830 B.H.P. at 2,475 R.P.M. International Rated Power:—820 B.H.P. at 9,000 ft. at 2,250 R.P.M. Maximum Power for Level Flight (5 minutes):—925 B.H.P. at 10,000 ft. at 2,600 R.P.M. THE BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO.
