Hiinible Southampton, Hants. ROYAL AIR FORCE. VACANCIES FOR SHORT SERVICE OFFICERS. Applications are invited for short service com missions in the General Duties Branch (Flying). Candidates must be at least 17£ and under 25 vears of age and have attained a standard of education equivalent to the School Certificate. Thcv must be unmarried and of good physique. No' previous flying experience is necessary. Appointment* are for four years on the active list followed bv six years' reserve service. A gratuity of £300 is payable after four years' sen-ice. A limited number of commissions in the Reserve of Air Force Officers are offered to young men who have attained the age of 18 but who have not attained the age of 25, and who are approximately up to the educational standard required for the school certificate of the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examination Board, are of good physique and able to devote approximately one year's continuous whole time attendance for training. Selected candidates wdl be appointed in the Reserve of Air Force Officers for a period of 5 years and after the first year's continuous training, they will be liable to attend for not more than 24 days' training annually. They will receive pay at the usual rates while under training and in addition they will receive a retaining fee of £25 for each year's service after the first. There are vacancies for the course commencing early in October next, and intending candidates should make immediate application to the Secretary Air Ministry (V/S.7.C Reserve), Kingsway. for particulars.
