562 • FLIGHT. JUNE 3, 1937. THE OYAL SERVICE NOTES AND NEWS IR R ORCE AIR MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS No. 13 (A.C.) Squadron, at Odiham, is the first unit to be issued with Hawker Hectors, which mount the 24-cylinder Napier Dagger III air-cooled engine. On the left, Sqn. Ldr. S. H. C. THE FIRST HECTOR SQUADRON NEW SQUADRONS No. 113 (Bomber) Squadron formed at Upper Heyford on May 18, instead of at Hemswell and has been placed in No. 1 (Bomber) Group. No. 233 (General Reconnaissance) Squadron formed at Upper Hey ford on May 18, and has been placed in the Coastal Command in No. 16 (Reconnaissance) Group. The unit will move to Boscombe Down on June 7, and to Thornaby on July 9. No. 148 (Bomber) Squadron will form at Scampton on June 7, on which date it will be placed in the Bomber Command, in No. 3 (Bomber) Group. The unit will be equipped with medium bomber aircraft. No. 211 (Bomber) Squadron will form at Mildenhall on June 14. The unit will be equipped with medium bomber aircraft and will be placed in the Bomber Command, in No. 3 (Bomber) Group. No. 82 (Bomber) Squadron will form at Andover on June 14. The unit will be equipped with medium bomber aircraft and will be placed in the Bomber Command, in No. 2 (Bomber) Group. No. 88 (Bomber) Squadron will form at Waddington on June 7. The unit will be equipped with medium bomber aircraft and will be placed in the Bomber Command, in No. 3 (Bomber) Group. FLYING ACCIDENTS The Air Ministry regrets to announce that A/C.i F. T. flicks and A/C.r L. Hall lost their lives in a collision in the air which occurred at South Farnborough on May 28 between two aircraft of No. 4 (Army Co-operation) Squadron. They were the passengers of their respective aircraft. The pilots were F/O. R. N. Smith, who was slightly injured, and P/O. G. V. Smither, who was uninjured. The Air Ministry also regrets to announce that F/O. P. C. Vickery and A/C.i J. Hutchinson lost their lives in an accident which occurred at Martlesham Heath on May 28 to an aircraft of No. 64 (Fighter) Squadron. F/O. Vickery was the pilot and A/C.i Hut chinson was the passenger of the aircraft. The Air Ministry also regrets to announce that Sergt. Frederick William Boxall lost his life in an accident which occurred at May- lands, near Brentwood, on May 25, to an aircraft of No. 65 (Fighter) Squadron, Hornchurch. Sergt. Boxall was the pilot and sole occu pant of the aircraft. The Air Ministry also regrets to announce the following fatalities on May 29: — P/O. Ronald Morgan Elms lost his life in an accident to an air craft of No. 16 (Army Co-operation) Squadron, Old Sarum. P/O. Elms was the pilot and sole occupant Of the aircraft. Sqd. Ldr. Henry Eustace Power lost his life in an accident at Waddington to an aircraft of No. 2 Flying Training School, Digby. Sqd. Ldr. Power was the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft. P/O. Arthur James Robinson and A/C.2 Almerick Hugh Hudson lost their lives in an accident which occurred to an aircraft of the Royal Air Fore? Station, Farnborough. P/O. Robinson was the pilot and A/C. Hudson the passenger. Sergt. Pilot John Geoffrey Tanfield lost his life in an accident which occurred to an aircraft of No. 1 (Fighter) Squadron, Tang- mere. Sergt. Pilot Tanfield was the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft. R.A.F. STATION, DEBDEN The R.A.F. Station, Debden, has been transferred within the Fighter Command from No. 12 (Fighter) Group to No. n (Fighter) Group, with effect from May 5, 1937. ROYAL AIR FORCE GAZETTE London Gazette.
