NOW This is a further development of the Smith Patented Electrical Transmission, as applied to the Flap Position Indicator. The panel incorporates red and green lamps to indicate when the port and starboard retracting gear are locked up or down whilst the Indicators show the actual position of the undercarriage at any time. A Push Button switch is fitted in order that the warning horn may be tested before flight. The transmitters are exactly similar to those included in the Flap Indicator installation and are coupled up by suitable levers to the retracting gear. The accuracy of the readings is not affected by the length of connecting cable or by changes in battery voltage. The system can also be extended and additional lights fitted on the same panel to indicate the up and down positions of the Tail Wheel if this is also retractable. rilTH'S AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENTS, CRICKLEWOOD, LONDON, N.W.Z
