MARCH 3, 1938. ADVERTISEMENTS. FLIGHT. 5 THREE NEW HIGHS A problem in machine tool operations II HIGH TENSILE. The high tensile strength and toughness of the latest alloy steels for aircraft, automobile and special engineering of all kinds, means material which is more in- tractable and difficult to machine. HIGH SPEED. The latest auto- matics, together with improved tool materials, enable higher speeds to be employed than ever before, and accelerated production schedules necessitate the. full exploitation of this trend. HIG H Fl N IS H. The greater release of tooling heat which inevitably accompanies the machining of tough materials at high speed'impairs the tool edge and leads to tearing, yet the call is for still finer finish .and rigid standards of-accuracy. " ! ~: and its solution by Swiftex the new straight cutting oil with its HIGH LUBRICATION VALUE In the solving of the problem the high lubrication value of the cutting oil predominates. SWIFTEX is sulphurised to an exceptional degree and is richly iatted to give a lubricating effect which has never before been achieved by any similar cutting oil. We recommend SWIFTEX for machining operations on tough metals with a close molecular structure at high cutting speeds, a combination which gives rise to exceptional heat release. The high lubricating value of SWIFTEX ensures that the generated heat is kept at a minimum and that perfect surface finish is secured with normal tooling arrangements. and HIGH HEAT CONVECTION The controlled viscosity of SWIFTEX gives free flowing properties and enables a constant flow of cool oil to reach the seat of the cutting operations in full volume and to flow away again just as easily, to be replaced at once with more cool oil contacting the tool and the work. Machining heat is thus dispersed by rapid convection, keeping the whole operation fully refrigerated. Everv engineer knows those jobs on which difficulties arise through the abnormal tooling heat produced—these are the jobs which call for SWIFTEX straight cutting oil. and HIGH FILM STRENGTH By a judiciously balanced choice of the constituent oils interrupted film even under extreme tool pressures. This incorporating a high fatty content, the film strength of SUIFTEX has been raised considerably above that of any previous cutting oils. It is essential for a cutting unbroken film provides constant lubrication at the point of contact between tool and piece and adds materially to the high finish of the resultant work. On this point oil to " wet " and cling to the work presenting an un- alone SWIFTEX is worthy of your consideration. STRAIGHT CUTTING OIL TRIAL OFFER. You cannot shop test a small sample of straight oil. On your instructions, therefore we will send a trial barrel of SWIFTEX Oil. If you are not completely satisfied with the results obtained, return the unused oil to us carriage forward, and we will cancel our invoice withou' question of further obligation.
