2 FLIGHT. ADVERTISEMENTS. APRIL 28, 1938. FOR THOSE OBDURATE MATERIALS In aircraft factories, a far higher proportion of all tooling is done on alloy steels and similar obdurate materials. As the production schedules are also pushed to the limit while still preserving aircraft standards of accuracy, it is not sur- prising that ordinary coolants are sometimes not entirely suitable. To meet these conditions, we have introduced a new blend of straight cutting oil— SWIFTEX—having excep- tional lubricating value with very free-flowing qualities. At highest surface speeds on tough heat-treated materials, SWIFTEX gives continuous lubrication right at the point of the tool, whilst its degree of sulphurisation and content of fatty oils assists in obtaining fine finish. SWIFTEX is recommended for use on high-speed auto- matics and semi-automatics, and on drilling, tapping and threading machines, and wherever difficulty may be anticipated from abnormal tooling heat due to the com- bination of high tensile mate- rials and maximum speeds. SWIFTEX is a new entity developed solely to give better service on difficult jobs. It does not supersede or dupli- cate any of our other cutting oils which have proved them- selves in service on all ordinary and many extraordinary duties. It does, however, augment and extend their range to meet the changing needs of modern practice. SWIFTEX is not untried. For over twelve months it has been in use and making friends. We have refrained from gener- ally announcing its advent until it had been thoroughly tried, not only in our laboratories, but in actual practice.
