Dear Sirs, Airspeed, •Jgnvoy" G-AC1/!, We believe .that you will be interested to read the fol- lowing extract from a letter which we have received-fr-on Mr. J, J. Davies, Chief Engineer of Ansett Airv/ays Ltd., Australia with re- gard to the Airspeed "Envoy" G-ACVI, Wolseiey "Aries III11 motors. You v,-ill remember that v;e purchased this aeroplane froa Lord I.'uf- field in 193^ and. shipped it to Ansett Airways Ltd., where it has been in constant service ever since. / « rn^g ^^rspeeci people nay foe interested to know that "the "Envoy" was recently overhauled for renewal of the "C. of. A. after having completed. 1,497 hours in a little "ever IT months. During this period the replacements "were three aileron hinge pins, one tail rheel axle and "two bushes and the undercarriage pump - a good record.," Later in Mr. Davies1 letter there is a reference to the Wolseley "Aries III" motor No. 17 being installed in this "Envoy" on the 16th June, 1937 and taken out for- overhaul on the 22nd Oct- ober, 1937, during which period it ran for 596 hours. During this time Mr. Davies mentions that -the engine had required no more than the usual servicing and throughout gave eor.plete satisfaction. An extract from a letter written in 1936 by the Managing Director of Ansett Airways Ltd., Mr. R. M. Ansett, regarding this sa-ne aeroplane also may be of interest to you.
