16 FLIGHT. ADVERTISEMENTS. MAY 26, 1938. THE BROOKLANDS BULLETIN: 6 CAPT. H. DUNCAN DAV/S, A.F.C., Managing Director Rrjoklands Aviation Ltd. THIS A.R.P. BUSINESS Air Raid Precautions seem to be the main topic of interest at the moment—rightly so, for there's patently little use in locking the stable door after the horse has been bombed ! I strongly believe that we should be prepared—and here is one way of attaining that end which seems to have missed its fair share of the limelight. Every fit man and woman who can afford it should learn to fly—and do so THIS SUMMER! .•*.,_ •-•• Yes, ; know that the Ground Organisations need volunteers, and no-one wishes them success more sincerely than I ; but we should be in a pretty poor case if we had a flock of volunteers on the ground, and nobody with knowledge enough to do his bit upstairs. Quite apart from which, whether one functions above or below, one is still dealing with aeroplanes and their works ; and it seems to me that the ground worker with a practical experience of modern aviation starts with a big advantage over the one who has only read things in books. There is an organisation here that can impart the requisite knowledge without further delay. For instance, we have recently re-equipped the School with the fatest type of Tiger Moth aeroplanes as used for instruction throughout the R.A.F. Eight of them, and four instructors, are at your service. -•: .:.-. : i. I am not going to enlarge here on the quality of instruction that will be given—I have done so on such numerous occasions that you probably know by heart all that I have to say. And as it is obvious that only the really well-trained will be much use to their country in time of need, readers of FLIGHT will need little inducement to adopt the BrooklandS Managing Director. standard while they are about it. . ••'• :'->~ P.S.—Come to Brooklands by WEST Weybridge Station (Waterloo 33 minutes, Tarmac 4 minutes ) or by car via the Kingston By-Pass (Piccadilly—Tarmac, 45 minutes).
