His company, which is one of the manufacturing units of Canadian Associated Aircraft, Ltd., is to build Hampdens. Royal Air Force and Official Announcements : Fleet Air Arm News : Military Aviation Abroad Auxiliary Qroup Renamed NO. 6 (Auxiliary) Group, which has its headquarters at Tavistock Place, London, W.C., has been renamed No. 6 (Bomber) Group This group was placed within the Bomber Command when the new organisation of the home units came into force in July, 1936, but, a.s has recently been announced, the auxiliary air squadrons of which it had control have now been reconstituted as fighter instead of bomber squadrons, and^ transferred to Nos. 11 and 12 (Fighter) Groups. Cadetships for Aircraft Apprentices FOUR apprentices, J. H. Deas and R. H. Clifford from No. 1 School of Technical Training (Apprentices), Halton, and B. Clegg and J. A. Plumb from the Electrical and Wireless School, Cranwell, have been selected for cadetships at the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, on the result of the examinations held on com pletion of their three years' training. " Viscount Wakefield" scholarships, at the Royal Air Force Col lege, of the value of £75 each, have been awarded to Fit. Cadet R. H. Clifford, and to Fit. Cadet A. E. Whitworth, an open com petition entrant. The " Hyde Thomson Memorial Prize," of the value of approxi mately £29, has been awarded to Flight Cadet B. Clegg. Reunion Dinners I T is proposed to hold a reunion dinner of past and present officers of No. 62 Squadron, R.F.C and R.A.l-\, in London at the end ol March or beginning of April this year. All past officers are invited to communicate with the Adjutant, No. 62 (B.) Squadron, R.A.F., Cranfield, Bletchley, Bucks, giving, at the same time, the names and addresses of any other past officers known to them. The fifteenth annual reunion dinner of the R.A.F. Staff College Dinner Club will be held at Grosvenor House, London, on Friday, March 24, at 7.30 p.m. for 8 p.m., with Air Chief Marshal Sir Edgar Ludlow-Hewitt in the chair. E\ening dress (no miniatures) will be worn. Cheques (16s., including cocktails, sherry, port and incidental expenses) should be sent to the hon. secretary, R.A.F. Staff College Dinner Club, Andover, Hants; they should be made payable to the hon. secretary' an<f crossed " Dinner Club A/c." Royal Air Force Qarden Party THE second Royal Air Force Garden Party will be held on Satur day, June 24, at Trent Park (Cockfosters), which has again been lent by Sir Philip Sassoon, M.P., First Commissioner of Works and a former Under-Secretary of State for Air. As a result of the first Garden Party, held at Trent Park on July 2 last, the Committee has made a donation of ^50 to the Royal Air Force • Benevolent Fund, £25 to the Air League of the British Empire and /10 to the Dominion Students' Hospitality Scheme. The garden party will once more provide an opportunity, par ticularly in the case of those home from overseas, for a general meeting of officers and their families, as was afforded formerly by the Royal Air Force Display. Flying Accidents THE Air Ministry regrets to announce the following accidents: — P/O. Ingram Tidward Pease (flying solo) lost his life in an accident which occurred near Kinross, on February 18, to an aircraft of No. 603 (Fighter) Squadron, Turnhouse, Edinburgh. A.P/O. Herbert William Stanton Stanton-Hope (flying solo) lost his life in an accident which occurred at Hullavington on February 21 to an aircraft of No. 9 Flying Training School, Hullavingtpn, Chippenham, Wiltshire. Royal Air Force Qazette Royal Air Force General Duties Branch The following Flight Lieutenants are granted permanent commis sions in that rank (January 6):—G. W. Gclledge, W. M. Graham.
