AIR MINISTRY Civilian Instructors Re quired. V ACANCIES Exist for Civilian Fitter, metal aircraft rigger, carpenter rigger and elec trician instructor at an initial rate of pay of £4 a week inclusive increasing to £4/5 on the satisfactory completion of a probationary period of one month~and thereafter by annual incre ments of 2/6 a week to £4/12/6 a week. rpHE Necessary Qualifications are:— FITTER Instructors Must be Capable of Lecturing and of Demonstrating the Theory of the Internal Combustion Engine and of Undertaking Instruction in Dismantling and Erecting Engines; aero engine experience and use of precision tools are essential. METAL Aircraft Rigger Instructors Must be Capable of Lecturing and of Demonstrat ing the Working of Light Metal Tubes and Plates, as used in airframe construction; knowledge of the rigging of airframes is required. CARPENTER Rigger Instructors Must be Capable of Lecturing and Demonstrating the Repair of Wooden Airframes; knowledge of the rigging of airframes is necessary. ELECTRICIAN Instructors Must be Capable of Lecturing and Giving Instruction in A.C. and D.C. Apparatus, wiring and batteries; a thorough knowledge of the elementary basic principles of electricity is required. APPLICATIONS Should be Addressed to the Air Officer Commanding, No. 24 (Training) Group, Royal Air Force, Halton, Aylesbury, Bucks, giving particulars as to previous experi ence, age, etc.; suitable applicants will then be required to attend at the nearest Royal Air Force trade testing centre for the necessary trade test and medical examination. VACANCIES Exist for Unestablished Appointments as Examiner. kUALIFICATIONS:— Ql CANDIDATES Must Have Had Sufficient Technical Education to Enable Them to Read Working Drawings and Specifications, to use micrometers and other types of measuring instruments and to understand and appreciate the principles of materials testing; they must have had practical experience in an engineer ing works, preference being given to those who have served an apprenticeship or pupilage with an engineering firm. THEY* Must be Prepared to Serve in Any Part of the United Kingdom, to go into the air if required in connection with their duties and to drive a car. SUCCESSFUL Candidates Will be Required to Undergo a period of Training in Aero nautical Engineering Inspection Not Exceeding 3 months. DURING Training Candidates Will be Re garded as on probation and paid at the rate of £184 a year; on satisfactory completion of the training course they will be appointed as Examiner and paid at £246 a year, rising by increments of £12 if service is satisfactory to £337. except that the starting salary for en trants below the age of 24 years will be reduced by £12 for each year below that age. SUBSISTENCE Allowance at the Rate of £1/5 Weekly is Payable Whilst Under Training to Married Men (and others with certain dependents) who normally reside outside the training centre. I ALARIES are Paid Monthly in Arrear. & NORMAL Age Limits 2150 years; candidates between 50 55 yea's will be considered if they have had experience of engineering inspec tion.
