MAY II, 1939. ADVERTISEMENTS. FLIGHT. 33 Public Appointments—Contd. A lit MINISTRY. APPLICATIONS are Invited for Appoint ments to a Limited Number of Vacancies as Operational (Air Control) Officers at Royal Air Force Stations. CANDIDATES for These Appointments Should not Have Reached their 50th Birth day and Must Have Held Substantive Commis sions; either permanent or temporary, in the Royal Air Force, Royal Flying Corps or Royal Naval Air Service; it is desirable that they should have had at least 500 hours' flying ex perience, preferably as pilot and during the last 10 years, of which 50 hours were flown at night; preference will be given to those who hold a second class Air Navigator's cer tificate and some knowledge of Civil Aviation Control procedure would also be an advantage. SELECTED Candidates Will Normally be Re quired to Undergo Short Courses of Train ing, and appointment as an Operational (Air Control) Officer would be subject to the satis factory completion of the course or courses, during which period(s) R.A.F. uniform will not be worn; the salary will be £370 a year rising by annual increments of £10 for approved service 'to £'420 a year (£430 x £10 x £480 a year in the case oi officers not in receipt of Service retired pay); on appointment to R.A.F. stations for duty as Operational (Air Control) Officers it will be necessary for officers to accept a commission in Class CC of the Reserve of Air Force Officers with the rank of Flight Lieu tenant, and to wear uniform on duty; they will be regarded as available to carry out the full duties of a regular officer of the General Duties Branch of the Royal Air Force and in addition to salary an allowance at the rate of £50 a year will be payable whilst the appointment is held. rpHE Appointments Will be of a Temporary 1 Nature, their duration being dependent upon Service requirements.
