JUNE 22, 1939. J/dSfSB^ Advertisements. 5 Engine/Bearer Forging Rep/ocii Assemlly of Steel Tubes Ml v-'V- L«tJ **a ^ Great savings in weight, time and money are effected by this engine bearer forging in "Elektron" magnesium alloys. Its weight machined is only 26 lb. and a pair support a 1,000 h.p. engine. The single-piece forging, after boring, replaces a complicated assembly of bolted-up steel tubes. Important features are exceptional rigidity, neatness and ease of accessibility. Typical properties (flanges) are: • Ultimate tensile strength, 20.5 ions per sq. in. • 0.1% Proof stress, 12 tons per sq. in. • Elongation 13%. Full details available on request.
