JUNE 22, 1939. ff& @STi? Advertisements. 17 1919 THE LATE SIR J. ALCOCK, K.B.E., WHO WITH SIR A. WHITTEN BROWN, K.B.E., FLEW THE ATLANTIC FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, PAID TRIBUTE TO CLAUDEL-HOBSON CARBURETTERS. The Managing Director, Messrs. H. M. Hobson Ltd. 29 Vauxhall Bridge Rd., LONDON, S.W. The Royal Aero Club, Clifford Street, W. June 20, 1919. Dear Sir, It is with great pleasure that I write to tell you of the magnificent manner in which the Claudel-Hobson carburettor which I used on the Vickers machine in the trans-Atlantic flight, stood up to what was undoubtedly the severest test to which a carburettor has been subjected. Under unprecedentedly varying climatic conditions, the carburettor operated with splendid consistency and, incidentally, with such economy, that only two thirds of my petrol was consumei when I completed the flight. Yours faithfully, V • dic^ck,. 4 7-55 THE VALE ACTON LONDON W . 3
