PLIGHT T I hrough three decades the name of Handley Page has been predominant in the contemporary A records of aeronautical advance. Efficiency and safety have always been the keynotes of the Company's design policy. Even so far back as 1909, Handley Page was building successful aeroplanes. In 1911 came the first inherently stable monoplane. In 1916 Handley Page multi-engined aircraft went into quantity production. 1919 saw the introduction of Handley Page slotted wings designed to improve landing and take-off characteristics. And, since 1927, when Handley Page automatic slots were made available to the designers of the world, the performance of all types of ^^^^ aircraft has been vastly improved and ^^^^ flying has been made safer far beyond measurable limits by their almost universal adoption.
