JUNE 13, 1940 535 SERVICE AVIATION Royal Air Force and Official Announcements LARGE numbers of pilots, air observers andwireless operator-air gunners are requirednow Young men of good education, with dash and initiative—especially those in age groups whichhave rot yet been registered—are asked to volun- teer. Radio Maintenance MEN up to- 50 can now serve in the Royal AirForce provided they have experience in radiowork. A new class of entry has just been created to provide personnel for the maintenance of AirForce wireless equipment of various types. The age limits for radio trade entrants are 'from 18 to50. Administrative Officers A NUMBER of officers are required for adminis-trative ground duties. Immediate commis-sions in the R.A.F.V.R. will be granted for the duration of hostilities to suitable applicants be-tween the ages of 32 and 50 years. Applications are invited from persons with previous commis-sioned service in the Forces or with administrative and managerial experience in civil life, preferablywith some knowledge of Service procedure. Pre- vious flying experience will also be an advantage.A high standard of education, character and per- sonality is required ia addition to the experienceindicated. Selected applicants will be required to attend indue course before Selection and Medical Boards in London and successful candidates will be posted forduty with the R.A.F. at home or abroad as vacan- cies occur, possibly at short notice. Appoint-ments will be in the rank of Pilot Officer on pro- bation carrying a rate of pay of £215 per annum,plus allowances.
